The Conclusion of the Carroll Biz Challenge 2019

The conclusion of the Carroll Biz Challenge was last night, my husband and I attended, and I must say I was surprised by what a great event these guys put on!

It began with a happy hour with food provided by local business sponsors including The Food Chick and Giulianova, as well as fresh and cold IPAs from last years winner Brewery Fire. I was actually so impressed by the Food Chick that I gave her my card, if she didn’t already have marketing than she needs me because her food was so amazing that I feel like we all need to know.

At 6 O’Clock we grabbed a second beer and headed to the theater, there was an excitement in the air as we all discussed the finalist with the folks in the seats around us. My money was always on local company Battleground, my son has been there twice for parties and they really have an excellent concept. While we wavered over who we thought would win, the lights dimmed and we were greeted by Mike the head of the Chamber of Commerce.

Following Mike were the MCs for the evening who played off each other and added a nice amount of humor to the night. Then it was on with the show.

First up was Battle Ground, followed by FishEd, Codeland, KnowMe, and an interesting photo booth company. The pitches were all great and the judges were knowledgeable and fired back with 7 minutes of questions ranging from financials to the BGE bill for running 70 game consoles all at once.

If you hadn’t already heard, KnowMe took the first prize for the night, totaling an amazing $21,000! It was well deserved, they had a great concept, and a great pitch! We can’t wait to see how their future goes.

Hampstead Marketing and Design was so proud to have entered this year, and while we didn’t get picked, which we really hadn’t banked on in the first place, we were just excited to be out there and to be a part of the fun. Getting to meet all of the other businesses in and around Carroll County was a real pleasure, we made several great networking connections, not to mention a new monthly client. I consider that alone a great success!
