Illustrations as Business Logos

We get a lot of requests to animate people or things for use as a logo, in most cases we advise against this unless it makes sense for the company, in some cases it works out really well. Your brand has to be able to support basically using a mascot as a logo, which will restrict your options on many things in the future and will also niche you into a corner sometimes. Depending on your market you may also be giving yourself a reputation as a non-professional.

Enough warnings, now let’s talk about super fun illustrations that are logos! We recently created some really fun ones that we wanted to share!

Below is an awesome logo that was developed for the owner of the Baltimore Blast, who subsequently has a side project in the coffee game. Here’s the kicker, pun intended, it’s hilarious. Goose Up Coffee wanted a logo that portrayed a Goose “goosing” (grabbing someone’s butt) a hunter. We had to say yes, yes like 1 million times, because that is exactly the kind of stuff we like designing. Bonus is the Coffee Industry isn’t one where using something like this will sell less coffee.

We understand that these will eventually find their way onto some shirts that we’ll be investing in from said company.

Next is a logo for a local farmer, portraying him and his son, wearing his go-to hat! This logo was eventually left unused as the client went another route, but hey, we got permission to share it and we think its pretty epic.

The largest concern we have with clients who are looking for this type of logo is that the illustration projects double the time involved and therefore double the price! The average logo cost is anywhere from $150-$300. These type of illustrations will run you $600 plus!
